The repercussions of his death bring together a diverse ensemble of heroes whose unseen connectionseven although they remain deeply divided by race, religion, or perhaps classare slowly revealed. It is at once children saga, a murder mystery, and a love tale, infused with questions about America’s dangerous legacy of violent discrimination. The Additional Americansconfirms Lalami’s status as one of the country’s most delicate interrogators, probing at the mistake lines in family, and the wider world (Financial Times).
